The men’s Free Rifle, Any Position (300 metres) at Athens 1896 was a long-range rifle shooting event contested over four ten-shot strings. Competitors were ranked by total score, with the scoring system rewarding both accuracy and the number of successful hits within each string. The event began on 11 April but was continued on 12 April after fading light prevented the competition from being completed in a single day.
