The gymnastics competitions at Athens 1896 took place inside the track at the Panathenaic Stadium. In the individual Parallel Bars event, routines were performed under an early judging system that emphasized two broad qualities: (1) bodily control and strength, and (2) agility and mobility. Judges evaluated the overall performance, but the original point scores were not preserved, and the surviving records do not provide a complete ranked order for all competitors beyond the very top.
For Parallel Bars (1896), only the top two places are reliably documented in surviving sources. The remaining participants are listed without exact placements. To calculate points consistently, we treat them as “participants with unknown placement” and display them under a shared position (4) for scoring purposes only.
