Shooting

Shooting is the Olympic precision sport in which competitors use firearms to hit fixed targets under defined distance, scoring, and equipment rules. Depending on the event, performance is measured by accuracy, consistency, and total score accumulated across a series of shots rather than by direct head-to-head opposition. In the early Olympic Games, shooting events often used less standardized formats and scoring systems than in the modern programme, but they already emphasized control, precision, and technical discipline.
