4000 metres Steeplechase

Discipline: Track

The 4000 metres steeplechase is a long-distance obstacle race combining endurance with hurdles, water jumps, and other barriers. It was contested at the Paris 1900 Olympic Games over eight laps of the Croix Catelan course, with water jumps, hurdles, and stone fences on every lap. The event was part of the experimental early Olympic steeplechase programme, alongside the 2500 metres race, before the discipline later developed around more standardized distances.
