Discipline: Freestyle
100 metres freestyle is a short-distance swimming event in which competitors race over 100 metres using any stroke, with freestyle becoming the standard form of open-stroke racing. Final placings are determined by finishing order and recorded time, rewarding explosive speed, efficient technique, and strong pacing over a sprint distance. In the early Olympic era, the event was contested under open-water conditions rather than in a standardized pool.
