Discipline: Freestyle
1,200 metres freestyle is a long-distance swimming event in which competitors race over 1,200 metres using any stroke, with freestyle representing the open-stroke form of competition. Final placings are determined by finishing order and recorded time, rewarding endurance, pacing, and efficient technique over an extended distance. In the early Olympic era, the event was contested in open water rather than in a standardized pool.
